But where is that Coney Island theme park anyway? Here’s what you need to know before availing tickets for Coney Island online:

The name Coney Island may be familiar to New Yorkers as a popular resort during its heyday, which is between mid and late 1800′s. However, the other Coney Island loved by kids and adults alike then and now is actually a theme park situated in Cincinnati, OH. James Parker became primary owner of this tourist site, previously bearing the name Ohio Grove. When Parker purchased the land where the theme park now stands, it was an apple orchard with 400 apple trees and a total land area of 20 acres. His orchard attracted a group of Ohio residents who are looking for a picnic venue to rent, which prompted Parker to make a new enterprise out of his orchard transforming it into a recreation place complete with facilities for dining, dancing and bowling. He had a merry-go-round built and maple trees planted replacing withered apple trees. Years after, Parker sold Ohio Grove for $17,500 to William and Malcolm McIntyre. The new owners, who operate steamboats, linked Ohio Grove to their business to attract more passengers. Ohio Grove gained the Coney Island moniker, trying to build a connection between the theme park and the then-famous New York resort-hence the name “Ohio Grove, The Coney Island of the West”. It was shortened to Coney Island when successful tycoon Commodore Lee Brooks acquired the property in 1889.

Experience the thrill and excitement at Coney Island by plunging into the Sunlite Pool or engaging in activities on Coney Island’s oldest attraction Lake Como or the Ferris Wheel, Giant Slide, Grand Carousel, The Python Family Roller Coaster and The Scream Machine, just to name a few. Another way is to watch live acts at the Lakeside Pavilion six days a week sponsored by the home care brands under Procter & Gamble.
