You think you are a daredevil in theme parks? You should have tried SheiKra, one of the most popular roller coaster rides inside the theme park Busch Gardens located in Tampa Bay. It is also regarded as the pioneer in North America’s Dive machine roller coaster. SheiKra was named after the shikra hawk that makes a straight dive when reaching for its pray.
To be honest, this is one of those rides inside Busch Gardens that is not for the faint hearted. It is characterized by the following elements:
- 200-foot 45 degree chain lift hill
- 195-foot 90° drop
- 140-foot-tall Immelmann
- 138-foot 81° drop
As passengers leave station, they climb a lift hill 200 feet high leading them to a 90-degree drop. It stops for four seconds, as they look down on the ground while being suspended on air. This is followed by a sudden plunge down below in a speed that is higher than 70 miles per hour. The ride ends with an Immelman loop, another vertical dive going to an underground tunnel and some surprise twists for everyone.
