Several companies own and manage the amusements and act independently. For this reason, no season tickets are available. The area is protected and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The park is also home to a few haunted houses.
The Wonder Wheel is a steel Ferris wheel that has been in operation since 1920. The wheel stands 150 feet tall and weighs more than two thousand tons. It can hold 144 riders. There are many other rides that are unique to Coney Island.
The park reached its peak during the early parts of the 20th century, when it was a major amusement park and resort. However, after the 2nd World War, the area declined in popularity.
Coney Island Tickets are available during the open season, which is from about April to October.
